My Thoughts

I got the chance to read the Butterman (time) Travel, Inc #1 in February, I absolutely adored the book from beginning to the end it was an amazing ride (review). And now I got to read the second book for which I have been waiting patiently.

Induction Day continues few months after where the Book #1 left. Towards the end of book #1 Tristan had bounced back in to superstar world with a new song which he dedicated to his friend (Bianca). Now that they are together exploring this new relationship, it is becoming difficult for Bianca to accept the new life of constant scrutiny from the media and paparazzi. While visiting Tristan, Bianca gets a first hand experience of how relentless the media could be to get some crazy gossip and invading the privacy of people is also included. Suddenly everything gets out of control leaving a big mess for both of them. In Kayla's words (Bianca's best friend):

"People a questioning everything from what kind of business your parents run, to previous violations .....-they'r calling it something like, the biggest scandal since regulated time travel. A perfect crime combination"

From here the story starts to build up. Bianca giving interviews and all media crazy people gathering up at her hometown waiting for another gossip. All this leads to Bianca's Induction day being telecast live on all over the media on the suggestion of Agent Garth.
Another time travel begins and this time it is not to some awesome music fest but to THE Titanic-few hours before sinking.
Read the book to find out if Bianca will be able to save her parents company from the fire of DOT and media? And will she be able to fulfill her childhood wish of saving the Unsinkable-Titanic?

In this book the major roles were of Bianca, Tristan, Agent Garth and Bianca's parents.
This time around we get to meet the nervous side of Bianca when she faces the media and a confident as well as the vulnerable side of Tristan. Throughout the story their relationship undergoes several test and finally emerges as a stronger one.
We'll get to see Agent Garth in a new light, who is standing with the Butterman family to bring them out of the media mess. BUT! as they say 'Dog's Tail can never be straightened ', read till the end to see what actually Garth is up to.
And Bianca's parents are like every other parent loving, caring and supporting. Her father is worried that is Tristan (who has a history of drug addiction) right for Bianca. And her mother is the perfect host to the guest (here Agent Garth) but if anybody messes with her family and she won't let them off easily.

Staring of the book was nice and I was slightly getting the idea where it might lead but then few pages into it and it was not able to hold my attention. With all the media frenzy and stalking, it got a bit dull for me and I dragged myself through those parts. But the author is not to be blamed here, as those parts were necessary for the awesome time travel which came after all this craziness. Not liking those parts is my personal problem (you can call it a problem), it's just that I don't really like people stalking and invading the privacy of others. And then came the awesome part almost after 30% of the story when the preparation of the new time travel began.
I really loved how beautifully author depicted the scenes and people on the ship just a few hours before the tragedy. I felt really anxious and sad as if I was on the ship with Bianca trying to do what she had always dreamed of doing - saving 1500 lives.
I had all these what if's? running through my head like a bullet train when they were on titanic and even after the completion of the story I have few more questions like: after time travel has there been any changes to the history of Titanic? The Souvenir that Bianca got, what happened to its owner? etc. well I hope to get few of my answers in next book.

Overall a satisfying read with the new and blossoming teenage love. And whats a story without Drama, action and emotions. :P

I give this one 3.5 out of 5.

Book description:

Adrienne Speck is the biggest loser in her high school, so she can hardly believe it when a magical boy falls from the heavens to grant her three wishes. He is cool, confident, and definitely popular-crowd material—everything Adrienne's not. With his help, she has a chance to get everything she's ever wanted: get kissed, get popular, and get a date for the upcoming dance.

But Adrienne discovers magic isn't all it's cracked up to be, and the road to popularity is paved with humiliation. To make her dreams come true, not only will she have to get the lead in the school play, ask out the most popular guy in school, and stand up to the current queen of popularity, but also keep her personal genie from trashing her room, dressing like a nerd, and revealing to her mom that he's living in their attic. For someone who's supposed to be helping her, he couldn't be making her life any worse. That is, until she starts to fall for him.

Review: Happily Murdered by Rasleen Syal

Publication Date: July 1, 2014 (Paperback)
Published by: Sittin' On A Goldmine Productions LLC
Pages: 313
Source: Review Copy given by the author for my honest views.

Synopsis

Who killed Gulab Sarin?

The radiant new daughter-in-law of the influential Mehta family dies mysteriously on the very next night of her wedding. The murder is an inside job, the police are certain. It could be anyone, the adulterous husband, conniving in-laws, jealous friend and the love struck ex-fiance. With an aim to save themselves and incriminate others, it is not long before these suspects turn into amateur detectives, hunting for clues and delving into hidden secrets only they can unearth. They coerce, pry and blackmail in an attempt to get to the bottom of this mystery. Will one of these nine unlikely sleuths finally unravel the mystery behind Gulab's death and avenge it? Or will the truth die as viciously as Gulab?

My Thoughts

Gulab had agonizing childhood. With her parents divorced when she was just a little girl, Gulab always yearned for a family. Her yearning turned to need when little Gulab lost her mother and had to live with her father for whom she was as good as dead. Her father's family never accepted her and for her cousins she was the "wierdo".

"My father considered me a bane of his life and this feeling was absorbed by the rest of my relatives as well."

Sid entered in little Gulab's life as an Angel who gave her all she ever wanted- love of a family and her best friend Yuvi. Gulab grew up loving Sid and always confiding in Yuvi.
And before dying had her heart broken and got it pieced back together. Found a dear family in the Sara and Ned. Married Sid Mehta (and took revenge).
But now the question is Why is she Dead? and Who killed her?
Read her story and you'll know what a roller coaster ride she had.

All the characters were amazing in there own way. Initially little Gulab had me in her team immediately out of sympathy, I was really happy when she finds a family but then as the story proceeded I remember cursing her for her actions hating her, thinking it is good that she died and then BAM! came the end which had me in tears for her death.
I really liked Yuvi- her best friend. He is a man of few words and a really sweet and amazing friend. He was a kind of friend who could kill anyone if they hurt his childhood friend. I was shocked the ending that he had I really wished that he had a better ending.
The twins Ned and Sara Dulla had my heart. They are the sweetest and the most supportive people. Ned is a real gentleman who brought back Gulab and pieced back her heart without asking for anything in return. He is also a fiercely protective brother. And as for Sara I am surprised that she ignored her bitter past with Gulab and supported her during her bad time.
As for Sid Mehta you'll have to read the book to know him properly.
All the other characters added a right flavor of spice and sweetness to the story.

The book had two stories going on with alternate chapters for each. One is about the present where everyone is busy fining the culprit and their reactions to Gulab's death and other is about Gulab's entire life which is narrated by Gulab herself.
I was sucked into the story right from the beginning. I really loved Rasleen's writing, the way with which she wrote that Prologue had me awestruck and then the more I read more I fell in love with her story-telling style. I really liked how she intertwined present and past stories and left the clues which left me guessing about who the real culprit was. And that ending AH!!! it was unexpected and amazing (storywise) but it was sad, I really cried when I read that (which happens very rarely).
I was like a movie with a nice blend of innocence, drama, deceit, romance and mystery.

I just have one thing to say if you love mysteries mixed up with nice plot and a blend of varied colors of characters then you really must give this one a chance.

5 out of 5

(P.S: I don't know why I feel this but I think you might find some grammatical and syntactical mistakes Please ignore them I tried my best to find them but couldn't and a friend who does this for me is out of station and not available to check those. :( )

Release Day: Accidentally Married on Purpose by Rachel Harris (Giveaway)

AMOP RDL Banner

We are so excited to bring you the Release Day Launch for Rachel Harris' ACCIDENTALLY MARRIED ON PURPOSE!! ACCIDENTALLY MARRIED ON PURPOSE is the third book in her Love and Games Series published by Entangled Bliss.

Accidentally Married On Purpose

About ACCIDENTALLY MARRIED ON PURPOSE:

One ring plus one wild night equals one crazy love

Sherry Robicheaux loves men. She loves love. And she loves an adventure. So when she meets a mysterious man while working backstage at a country music concert in Vegas, she’s all about what’s happened in Vegas staying there.

Country music superstar Tyler Blue just wants a weekend of anonymity…though there’s something about the spunky waitress with the streaks of purple hair that tempts him like no other. Until the next morning, when they both wake up with fuzzy memories…and rings on their fingers.

Convincing Sherry to maintain the ruse for his public image isn’t the hardest part—it’s reminding himself that their time spent playing husband and wife in her small town of Magnolia Springs can’t last. Tyler’s first love will always be music—and the road is no place for a sweet downhome girl.

EXCERPT:

From opposite the long table of food, the brunette gave him a blatant once over as he came to a stop in front of her, twirling a strand of purple hair around her fingertip. When she reached his lucky belt buckle, her sinful lips twitched.

“If the words, ‘Come here often,’ leave your mouth, I swear I’ll laugh you straight back to roadie-ville.” Her words were harsh, but the smile that sprang free was playful, and Tyler found himself mesmerized by the familiar twang of her southern voice.

So much so that he’d almost missed what she said.

“Roadie-ville?”

“Sorry, do you prefer techie?” Her cute nose wrinkled as she stuck her hands in her back jeans pocket. “I heard someone else say that earlier, but I swear that sounds like a computer nerd.” She looked him up and down again, this time her gaze lingering around his hips. Slightly south of the belt buckle. Hot damn. “I think roadie fits you better. Sounds sexier.”

Tyler scratched the side of his jaw. Was she messing with him? He’d heard a hell of a lot of come-ons since making it to Nashville and had been propositioned in every way possible. But this was a first. The woman stared back, smiling that damn seductive smile, and he realized she honestly had no clue who he was. For some reason, he was in no hurry to correct that just yet.

He couldn’t recall the last time he’d gone anywhere without being recognized, much less his own concert. But since the room was swarming with crew, Tyler could understand the confusion…if she weren’t a hardcore fan, and clearly, this woman wasn’t. Tyler swiped a hand over his mouth, hiding a smile.

“Sugar, you can call me anything you like,” he drawled, laying it on thick even to his own ears. Her pretty lips parted, and he grinned. “And what can I call you?”

Her smile twisted into a smirk. “Who said you could call me at all?”

He laughed, shocked again, and for the first time in a long time, speechless.

She winked. “I’m Sherry.” When she said her name, she looked right into his eyes as if he should remember it, and he had no doubt that he would. The confidence pouring off her was sexy as hell. “And…you are?”

“Tyler,” he replied, glad she’d gone with just her first name so he could do the same. The rest of the world simply referred to Tyler as Blue, the front man for the band bearing his last name. Even so, he stood back and waited for a sign of recognition.

It never came.

When it became obvious she really had no clue who he was, nor would she guess any time soon, Tyler felt a knot of tension release between his shoulder blades.

“So, Sherry, you planning to watch tonight’s show?”

She pulled a face. “I’m not much for country, other than the line dances. All those songs about trucks and trains and whiskey and dogs, though that last one I can forgive.” Her smile softened and Tyler moved closer, wanting to be nearer the genuine warmth of it. “No offense to your boss or anything,” she added with a slight grimace. “I heard he’s pretty hot…even if he is the man-whore of country music.”

A shocked laugh burst from his lips. “Excuse me?”

She waved her comment away, as if she hadn’t just insulted him to his face—which, he guessed, she hadn’t really. At least not on purpose. “Just a theory I have. I’m sure he’s a perfectly adequate boss.”

Now, Tyler laughed for real. “Yeah, he’s…adequate.” Shaking his head, he propped his hip on the table. This was the most fun he’d had with a woman in months—and they both still had their clothes on.

Synopsis

The Hutchinson sisters grew up under the piercing, pious stare of a preacher's wife. Plagued by her ever-disappointed refrain, "Well, it's not my favorite." Their search to find their own way in the world has not been a screaming success. Gwenn is a good girl, a responsible girl... a miserable girl. Her steady diet of vivid fantasies is the only part of her life she enjoys. She daydreams of new parents, a more exciting job and an actual love life. She struggles to run a business as "The Organizer," while she stacks relationship carcasses in the closet of her own completely unorganized life. Her only real friend is her younger sister, Rachel. Rachel is outgoing, risque and happily gay. The only people who don't know this little secret are her judgmental parents, Pastor Ed and Shirley. Rachel struggles mightily to dodge her mother's constant attempts to set her up with "nice Christian boys"; while holding down a job at the bakery and keeping up with her rock-star girlfriend! Gwenn uncovers a photo that brings her imaginary world careening into reality. She's forced to ask herself if wealthy artist, Daniel Gregory is the answer she's been seeking or a grand delusion. Break-ups, meltdowns, family secrets, wild nights and finally a journey of self-discovery to exotic New Zealand keep Gwenn and Rachel stumbling toward independence. So grab your parka and join the Hutchinson girls, as they experience the Lake Effect in Duluth, Minnesota! (source: goodreads)

My Thoughts

(I was provided a copy by the author, but all the view mentioned here are solely mine and unbiased)

The story revolves around Hutchinson sisters- Gwenn and Rachel. They both hate their parents- the meek Pastor Ed and the dominating Shirley. While Rachel has made peace with the fact that her parents are going to remain the way they are, Gwenn is hopping and daydreaming for a new family.
The Hutchinson family has forever been on move, never settling at a place for more than a few years because of Pastor Ed's and Shirley's search for God. These regular unplanned moves caused the sisters childhood miserable as they never had friends and suffered in loneliness or got mixed up in wrong crowd. Growing up Gwenn had some nice relationships but her parent's disapproval (Shirley's Judgey-ness) never let her have a nice ending. And Rachel has been in out of closet for past 10 years but the twist here is that her parent's don't know this and this causes some funny situations when they ask her to date "nice christian boys".
Gwenn's search for a new family, a house where she does not have to feel like a stranger and a misfit anymore takes her on a journey which is both beautiful and torturous. She and her sister Rachel together work hard to get their own Happy Endings (or Happy Beginnings) about which they had been dreaming their whole life.

Oooh!!! The beginning chapter was soo hot. Alas! it was just a dream. But don't worry this book has a nice blend of several emotions.
It was a delightful read with a great mix of diverse characters

I really liked the sisters and their bonding is awesome. Both are like two ends of same coin who are incomplete without each other. Gwenn is the responsible one, always making everybody happy, never wanting to hurt others and organizing other people's life even though her own life is a mess; and Rachel is a happy go lucky girl who never misses to have fun, knows how to party and flow with the flow.
Being the eldest child of the house I was able to relate to Gwenn's feelings of not hurting the family and her protective attitude towards her baby sister.
Rachel might superficially seem like a immature girl but I felt like she really is the mature one, she handled her own problems very nicely.
I really hated their parents especially Shirley. At some instances I really felt like strangling her or giving her a nice talk on how not to judge her children and for Pastor Ed, I just wanted to give him a nice slap that would wake him up from his don't-go-againt-wife-as-she-is-his-superhero sleep and ask him to understand his daughters.
Ah!!! Finally the hero or as I like to say passionate lover boy (more like man) Daniel Gregory. I really loved him. He has his own baggage from his past but the way he carries himself makes the ladies swarm into his direction. I really liked getting to know about his struggles he faced while getting control over his own Demons. He loved like really loved Gwenn - though it was only after a short meeting and a funny encounter with the drunk Gwenn, he really liked her. And the way he followed Gwenn across the globe to take her out from her misery was amazing.

I can seriously go on and on about the characters, they really were awesome. The perfectionist and the best-est friend Todd, the hardworking Flora and the man-whore Henry whom-i'd-like-to-punch.

Towards the end I felt like story was kinda loosely tied. I really hoped to see getting-to-know-each-other-scenes between Gwenn and Daniel. How was the relationship between the sisters with their parents after the BIG revelation. There was also some really big descriptions which slowed the pace and sometimes were not necessary, but it can be overlooked as I think they might be pointing towards the storyline of future books in the series (this is the only reason my mind would come up with when I saw that this is a series).

Overall it is nice read and I really had amazing experience following Gwenn on her self-discovery or the introspection journey while soaking in the beautiful sights of New Zealand. Rue wrote it so beautifully that I really wished I was there with Gwenn.
I did a little happy dance when I saw that this is a series and I might get more of these amazing characters(ahem! ahem! Todd and Flora's please) and might get few of my confusions cleared.
